Stuff I've been meaning to say:
Congratulations, Vomitus. You have managed to give me a gift that keeps giving: GERD. I enjoy the fact that no matter what I eat or don't eat, I seem to get acid reflux every night since your last visit. I'm glad I have something so permeating to remember you by.
I'm currently feeling pretty ill right now, ill enough to cancel making mineral eyeshadows and practice putting up the EZ-up tent with Mrs SnitchesGetStitches. That sucks. I was going to introduce her to my Little Red Wagon, too. [currently in search of a name]
I canceled my Live365 account. For you, the reader, this means that if you were previously enjoying Radio Xiane, you have until April 27th to listen to the current rotation. I want to start posting podcast broadcasts instead, but if there's no interest then I won't bother. [that's your cue to say "yes chris pls" or"I'm sick of your musical taste anyway" or "I like peanut."] I can make this into a poll if that's what you need to feel involved in the decision-making process.
I got my first wholesale account offer this week. I sent my prices over and haven't heard back. Go me. I also got ripped off for the first time as a buyer on Etsy. Considering that I've been a member since August 2005, that's not too bad of a record.
I have to drag all my sproutlings in this evening, because they're calling for possible sub-freezing temps. Ack. I have beautiful lettuce going, happy purslane and persian cress, johnny-jump-ups, brussel sprouts... all that will be camping on my washer tonight!
Squeegee Cat continues to be a life-saver. After all this horrible pet food recall action, I realized although I was trying to be a good cat mom and make good food choices, I was feeding my cat something akin to high-end fast food. I am now transitioning him to a raw diet and he's been really funny about it. He sings arias after a particularly good meal. He's also been ridiculously cuddly with me. Overall, he's just an excellent feline friend and I'm lucky he's here.
here are some letters.
a. Soy yogurt does not get a thumbs up.
b. Despite what my cat thinks, I do not like being awakened by having a nose inserted into my nose.
c. I really like assembling things. Putting together the wagon made me really happy.
d. Smart Water really saves the day for me.
e. We keep buying cookbooks but don't cook as much as we should.
f. GERD + Vegan Indian food = ACK.
g. Bananas help this a little.
h. I miss crab watching.
look for more alphabet in later installments.

How have people mispronounced your name? How is it supposed to sound?
Submitted by Lorie.
Ahahaa. I get all sorts of things. For Christiane [kris-tee-aahn] I get Kristy-ann, Kris-teen, and Krist-shun.
For Xiane... oh man. It's zye-aahn or zye-ann but I've heard Cheyenne, Ex-ee-ann, and Zeen. Oh, and Zain.
Not the easiest names to say, but that's how I like it. :D
Wanna see more? I know you do.
Does having my silly face there make you want to laugh as much as it makes ME want to laugh? :D
In which fictional world/universe/land/city would you most like to live?
Submitted by glenn is the new chuck.
Without a doubt, the city of Newford, as imagined in the stories of Charles DeLint.
From a listing about Newford on the Internet Book List:
"The city itself has a soul, as a street busker timidly discovers, one night in a park.. She has to go though, her people have forgotten her, left her to decay. But he remembers.. Desert spirits might keep you company, cadging a smoke or playing the flute as you try to puzzle out the tangled threads of your life. ..There are some Roads that require guarding -even if it's only a part time job for a punk rocker.. And sometimes, if one dreams too strong, for too long, one might discover that one's dreams have a life of their own. ..And who's to say that it's less real than the waking one?"
Alternatively, Bordertown seems like a fine and interesting place to spend some time.
Have you ever secretly unwrapped a gift before the big day?
Submitted by Red Pen.
Good lord, no. I LOVE LOVE LOVE surprises, and I'll be as patient as can be to get the surprise.
When I was 5 or 6, I snuck into the closet where the presents were kept. Not only did I discover how horrible it was to not get the surprise on Xmoose day... I also discovered that Santa = Mom.
Now I keep the faith and let the magic happen. :)
With the upcoming week away from Squeegee and Rob, I'm feeling the squeeze of last-minute neediness. Cat's on my lap, and although my foot is asleep, I don't have the heart to move him. I didn't want Rob to go to work today, either. I'm missing them already and I'm not even gone. :(
What's your middle name? Is there a story or history behind it?
Lyne. A common middle name taken to a weird place, spelling-wise. The story behind that is kinda funny - it was *supposed* to be "Lynne" but due to a typo on my birth certificate, I got a slightly more distinctive appearance for the oft-ignored middle name.
When I had my name changed on all my important stuff after getting married, everyone here tried to push me to take my old last name as my new middle name - I guess that's what you do, here in the South. However, Christiane Knight White does not have the same ring as Christiane L. White-Knight... so I kept Lyne.
And that was much more than you ever needed to know about that.
I've been relatively quiet on the internet front. I haven't posted to livejournal in days, and here in even longer. I just haven't felt like sharing anything that's been going on in my head lately. There are big changes in there, and subtle shifts as well. I'm letting some things go that I should have a long time ago... and embracing some things that I let slide - out of necessity in some cases, and from laziness in others.
Mleah. I wanted to elaborate, but I have an important errand to run. I'll pick this up again later. Anyway, I'm still alive. That was the crucial message I wanted to provide.
